Based on James Elloy's novel, the film depicts the corrupt and crime-ridden city of Los Angeles in the 1950s. Jack Vinson (Kevin sent west) is the police celebrity, often appeared in the TV media, in cahoots with hiss hiss newspaper gossip reporter, by manufacturing and blew the whistle on the star peachy news that earn extra money. Ed esley (guy pearce) is an ambitious, disciplined son who takes over from his father's job in the police department. Bud white (Russell crowe) is unselfish but impulsive and exploitable. The three were linked by a suspected robbery of a restaurant. Ed YiSiLi found three black suspects, and the case was sentenced to death, have therefore received superior praise, but he is in further investigation found that the case is not so simple, he persuaded jack Vinson pursue together with him; Bud white has long been skeptical about the restaurant's murder, and the clues he has found suggest it's not as simple as expected. The three were quickly caught up in a web of pornography, drugs, murder, betrayal, corruption and intrigue...
