Three separate but parallel American stories. The housing mortgage crisis of 2005 was told. The eccentric former physician Michael Burry, a sharp-eyed Scion Capital hedge fund manager, swapped traditional office attire for shorts, bare feet and a super-cut. He believes the us housing market is built on a bubble that will burst in the next few years. Internal autonomy allowed Mr Burry to do much of what he wanted, so he placed a bet on the housing market with Banks that were happy to accept his offer, something that had never happened in American history. The bank believed Burry was a lunatic and therefore believed they would win the deal. Jared Vennett of deutsche bank got wind of what Burry was doing and, as an investor, believed he could live up to his convictions. An erroneous phone call to the front corner partner gave this information to an idealist, mark baum, who was fed up...
