Mike (Jesse Eisenberg) is a complete nerd who has never stepped foot outside of the town he lives in his entire life. During the day, Mike works as a cashier at a supermarket and in his free time, he enjoys drawing comics, however the characters and stories Mike even creates on his own will never see the day when they are known to the general public. Phoebe (Kristen Stewart) is Mike's girlfriend, and Mike's greatest wish is to be able to overcome his inner fears and take Phoebe on holiday to Hawaii.What Mike can't figure out is how his ordinary self can suddenly be surrounded by wave after wave of mutant agents who want to take his life. However, when the deterioration of the situation involves the safety of the whole town and Phoebe, the power hidden in Mike's body explodes, and he transforms into a vicious and merciless killing machine.
