When a wealthy man passes away, he donates most of his fortune to various charities, leaving only a cottage in Maine to his bossy stepdaughter, Kerrigan Crittenden (Cathy Moriarty). The villa, known as the Wipes Grand Mansion Estate, is so old that it has long since fallen into disrepair and is now uninhabitable.
