The film reveals her dual life: exceptionally talented in her lifetime, yet she worked anonymously as a nanny for 40 years. After her death, she left behind over 100,000 negatives capturing Chicago street scenes and portraits. In 2007, these works resurfaced when film producer John Maloof acquired them at an auction. She has since been recognized by the photography community as one of the greatest photographers of the 20th century.
