In 1984, the Odens’ six-year-old son, Lorenzo, was diagnosed with a rare condition called ALD (adrenoleukodystrophy), which doctors declared to be an incurable terminal illness. However, the Odens refused to give up hope. They challenged the limitations of the medical community through various means and developed a specially formulated oil for Lorenzo to consume. Ultimately, they saved him from the brink of death and brought hope to other families affected by the same disease.
