The story focuses on British actress Noele Gordon, known to her friends as Nolly, who became a household legend while still alive. She was one of Britain's most famous people as the fiery red-haired widow Meg Richardson in ITV's long-running hit soap opera Crossroads. However, in 1981, when both the show and Nolly's reputation were at their peak, she was rudely dismissed without warning or explanation. With a "good riddance" from her boss, Noelle found herself thrown off the show she had been on for 18 years.
