Set in 1950s America, miki (Rachel Brosnahan) and her husband, joey (Michael Zegen), have been married for years, raising their children together and living a happy and fulfilling life. Joey has always wanted to be a stand-up comedian, and every weekend he takes the stage at the club. However, joey's career has been tepid.One day, after another failure in the performance, joey broke down. He confessed to miki that he had an affair, and immediately packed his luggage and left home. In sadness and despair, miki stepped onto the stage and made a brilliant speech with the strength of liquor, which made the audience laugh. Suzy (Alex Borstein), a waitress at the club, finds a talent in mickey and decides to become her manager.
