In the midst of Prohibition in the United States, Redford (Eddie Murphy), a pickpocket who spends his days idling around, and Claude (Martin Lawrence), a bank clerk with a gambling habit, are brought together by fate to deliver moonshine for Mr Spanky (Rick James). The two men come together to deliver bootleg liquor for Mr. Spanky (Rick James). But the deal is sabotaged by a shady sheriff, leading to the imprisonment of Rayford and Crowder for life. Thus, Rayford and Crowder, two otherwise ordinary people, have to spend the rest of their long lives behind bars.The two unlucky men, already at odds with each other, became "roommates", and conflicts and quarrels were inevitable. However, as time goes on, a strong friendship is formed.
