Set in San Francisco, USA, where the Asian Asian FBI detective Tom kills a mob hitman to save his colleague Jack (Jason Statham), leading to the death of his entire family. When Jack arrives at Tom's holiday cabin, Tom's family has been burned to the ground. The tragic death of Tom's family became a constant source of regret for Jack, tormenting him at every turn. Three years after the incident, while investigating the murders of some of the gangs' core figures, Jack discovers a killer named Roger (Jet Li), a cool-headed, unpredictable and accurate gunman who takes money from the Chinese gang while serving the Japanese gang behind their backs, but disobeys orders to let the Chinese boss's wife and daughter go free. As the investigation progresses, Roger's secrets are uncovered one by one, and Jack is shocked and forced to confront anew the truth about the tragic death of Tom's family back then.
