The Russians and Americans plan an anti-terrorist operation and send special forces to capture General Ivan Redik (Jurgen Prochnow), the dictator of the Kazakh kingdom, who is in possession of nuclear weapons. At a celebratory dinner a few weeks later, U.S. President James Marshall (Harrison Ford), a former Vietnam veteran, delivers a tough and brilliant speech against the terrorists and the dictatorship. The trip to Moscow comes to a successful conclusion as the president's family and their dignitaries return to the United States on Air Force One, accompanied by a Russian media crew led by Iger (Gary Oldman).The security detail has been sloppy, and Iger's true identity is that of a terrorist loyal to General Riddick. After the plane takes off, Iger and his companions hijack it and kidnap American dignitaries and the President's family, with only James escaping. The terrorists demand that the Russians and Americans release General Reddick, while James, hiding in Air Force One, fights the gang to the death...
