On Oct. 13, 1972, a Uruguayan rugby team traveling to Chile crashed in the Andes mountains. More than two dozen survivors faced the freezing conditions, desperately trying to get out of this desolate and dead place alive. After waiting hopelessly for the rescue team, they desperately face the grim reality of dwindling food, a cold and harsh altitude, several avalanches and a great fear of death. After much discussion and internal struggle, they begin to try the impossible and eat the dead bodies. Finally, more than 50 days after the crash, the rescue team was able to find them as the weather warmed up. The sixteen people who survived finally walked out of the land of death and were reunited with their families once more.
