In the Christmas special, it's Christmas in Darrowby, and Helen and James realize they haven't agreed on where they'll spend Christmas. Mrs Hall was waiting for them in Skeldale, Jenny in Heston Grange, and the couple did not want to disappoint either of them. The situation raises bigger questions about what their lives will be like in the future. When a beloved local pet becomes seriously ill, Siegfried must bring it into practice for emergency treatment. In an emergency like this, Helen ends up feeling like an extra part of Skeldale's Christmas party, but farmer Dave Kitson may end up being the solution to Helen finding her place at Skeldale -- and the key to the animal's survival. Tristan realizes it's time to get serious and reveals some important news, while James' father sends a card asking him to call them at Christmas, which makes James uneasy about whether he can ever make amends with his family.
