The show centers on Finn Cole's 17-year-old Joshua "J" Cody (played by Finn Cole) and takes place in a small Southern California beach town, where Joshua lives with his grandmother (Ellen Barkin) and uncle after his mother dies of a drug overdose. He has to contend with family indulgences and chaos. He has to wrestle with the family's indulgent and chaotic ways, and soon discovers that his uncle's family is actually part of a criminal enterprise.
