A prequel to the classic novel Treasure Island, the show is set "20 years before" the fictional time, before Captain Flint (Toby Stephens) and his Walrus became famous. The series will be shot in Cape Town, South Africa, and is tentatively scheduled to air in 2014 (to fill the gap after the conclusion of the "Spartacus" trilogy) with an eight-episode premiere. Flint is one of the most famous pirates in literary history and an icon of the golden Age of piracy. He and a group of men set up an anarchic community on New Providence Island known as "Pirate Paradise" and fought various hostile forces to keep New Providence alive. In this haven for criminals, along with pirates from all directions, there were prostitutes, robbers, thieves, and treasure hunters of all kinds.
