Jessica (Kim Basinger), a high school science teacher, is kidnapped. Fortunately, there is an old dialing phone in the place where the kidnapper holds her captive. In a panic, Jessica dials a random number for help, and her distress call reaches Ryan (Chris Evans) on his cell phone. Ryan thought it was a prank at first, but then the assailant spotted Jessica calling for help and smashed the phone. Ryan didn't realize the seriousness of the situation until he heard the robber yelling and Jessica screaming. Jessica used her science lessons to rebuild the phone and reconnect with Ryan after the robber left. Through her account, Ryan learns that the assailants will soon kill her husband and son, and Jessica doesn't even know where she is. Ryan doesn't have much time left, and his phone battery is limited. Ryan must do everything he can to save Jessica's family.
