Slightly neurotic Peter (Robert Downey Jr.) is a father-to-be whose wife's (Michelle Monaghan) due date is in five days. He rushes to catch a plane, hoping to fly right to his wife's side to be with her in labor. But it doesn't work out that way, as he meets Ethan (Zach Galifianakis), an actor who wants to be famous. Trouble ensues. After a mess, the two are thrown off the plane and put on a no-fly list. To make matters worse, Peter's wallet and papers are taken off the plane. In order to make it in time for the baby's birth, Peter has to choose to share the road with the annoying Ethan. The two are forced to hitchhike together and embark on a road trip across the states and provinces. What awaits them on the road when the nervous man meets the geeky man? And in the end, will Peter make it in time for the birth of his child?
