David (Ben Kingsley), who is over 60, is a local cultural commentator with a reputation for having a good laugh on TV. He is also a college professor who never sleeps with female students before grading class assignments to avoid being accused of sexual harassment. David is self-indulgent in his relationships, and his closest friend today is a schoolgirl from 20 years ago. But things change when he meets 24-year-old Consuela (Penelope Cruz). He loved her youth and the meaning of her body. She was like the perfect body in the painting. But he could not believe that he would always have her. He thought that there would always be younger and better men to take her away. So every time Consuela invited him to meet her family and friends, David refused, refusing to come into her life.
