The Godfather and other mob classics are the blueprint for this hilarious film, which describes the old Godfather Vincenzo, who is facing the pressure of choosing a successor because of his old age and the restructuring of the mob forces, and whether he should choose the fiery Joey or Anthony to inherit the mantle among his three sons. Jim Abrahams, who specialises in this kind of film, leaves behind his old partner Leslie Nielsen and casts a slimmer veteran actor, Ed Law, to play the Godfather, which is an appropriate casting choice, and it also expresses the usual gags in the dialogue to bring out the satirical effect. But overall, the film fails to break away from the clichés of the same series, and some of the jokes are in poor taste.
