The future, 2044. Time travel has been illegal since it was invented, and only "loitering" occurs when gangs want to clean up a particular object without leaving any trace in the world. They specialize in executing targets that are transported back to the other world in time. They are called "ringers" because they must eventually kill their future selves -- so as not to leave any problems for future customers. This process is called ring sealing. The killer, Joe (Joseph gordon-levitt), is the youngest of the ringleaders, but when he tries to execute himself from the future (Bruce Willis), he is thwarted by fierce resistance. Old Joe hopes to kill the key figure in sealing ring plan in the future -- call out rain division, change wife thereby (xu qing) destiny; Young Joe met farm single mother Sarah (Emily Blunt) in the process of killing, accidentally become a pair of mother and son guardian. The two versions of Joe come up with their own grand scheme to change the future (and present).
