It's been a full 20 years since this high-profile couple - Grace (Julianne Moore) and her husband Joey (Charles Melton), 23 years her junior - became famous in a gossip-filled tabloid, and their romance has taken the country by storm. Now, they're preparing to send their twin children off to college. Meanwhile, Hollywood actress Elizabeth (Natalie Portman) is preparing her performance for a movie capturing Grace and Joey's love story, and decides to go ahead and live in Grace and Joey's home for a while in order to better understand her character.Joey has never really confronted his youthful past, and now that he's over 30 and an empty-nester parent, he's starting to face the realities of life head-on. As Elizabeth and Grace examine each other, similarities and differences between the two women emerge. The pressures of the outside world also cause gradual cracks in the family dynamic, leading to a series of conflicts and challenges.
