Neds is set in Glasgow in the 1970s, where Ned is used to refer to "uneducated alfis". John, the hero of the film, is an energetic teenager, but he can't choose his own path. For director Peter mullan, the subject matter is personal, but not autobiographical.The film won two awards, best picture golden shell and best actor, at the 2010 SAN bastian film festival in Spain.
