An extraordinary true story of resilience, friendship and the triumph of the human spirit, Swimming Never Gives Up tells the fascinating life story of world-class athlete Diana Nyad, who 30 years ago gave up long-distance swimming to become a prominent sports journalist (played by four-time Academy Award nominee Annette Bening). At the age of 60, she becomes obsessed with completing an epic swim that she has never been able to accomplish: the 110-mile journey from Cuba to Florida, known as the "Mount Everest" of swimming. Determined to be the first person to complete the swim without a shark cage, Diana embarks on an exciting four-year journey with her longtime friend and coach, Bonnie Stoll (two-time Academy Award winner Jodie Foster), and a dedicated sailing team.This inspiring film marks the directorial debut of Academy Award-winning documentary filmmakers Elizabeth Chai Vasarely and Kim Kwok-Wai (Unarmed Climbing, Thai Cave Rescue). Swimming Without Giving Up is produced by Andrew Lazer (p.g.a.) and Teddy Schwartzman (p.g.a.), with a screenplay by Julia Cox, and is based on Diana Nyad's memoir, Find a Way.
