The 1978 film starred Christopher Reeve, who starred in four versions of the superman series. To keep the race alive, scientist Jor-El sends his infant son, Carl (Christopher Reeve), to Earth on a spaceship just before krypton's demise. Raised by the Kent family on Earth and renamed Clark, Carl has superhuman powers and will become the guardian of justice and truth on earth. Growing up, Carl moved to the metropolis and became a reporter for the Daily Planet. Normally a mild-mannered reporter, he turns into superman, the guardian spirit who flies freely in tight clothes and a cape. When the evil Russo tries to rule the world, Superman is the only one who can stop him.
