With a new deadly blight looming, Gaius (Christian Comfrey) and his fellow half breeds are imprisoned by General Albert (Neil Sandilands) and the Last Man. In order to consolidate his power by finding a cure, Albert uses the children as experimental bait for the capture of Dr. Aditya Singh (Adil Akhtar), who is trying to save his infected wife Rani (Ariza Villani). To protect his friend, Gaius agrees to help Dr. Singh and embarks on a journey into the unknown, exploring his origins and the role his mother, Bodhi (Amy Seimetz), played in the events of "The Great Crash. Outside the preserve, Tommy Jephed (Nonso Anos) and Amy Eden (Tanya Ramirez) team up to free the hybrids, and their partnership is put to the test as Jephed's secrets are revealed. As past events threaten the current rescue operation, Gaius and the reunited family clash with Abbott and the forces of evil who want to destroy them once and for all.
