On a deserted island, the uncommunicative Hank (Paul Dano) has long despaired of life and decides to take his own life. Just at the critical moment, a body floats onto the beach. The corpse (Daniel Radcliffe) is pale and puffy, but seems to be alive. Hank is overjoyed and gives this unusual friend his name, Manny. What excites him even more is that Manny is like a multi-purpose Swiss Army knife, helping him solve real-life problems such as building fires, cutting trees and drinking water. Manny's presence opens the door to a new world for Hank, and death seems to have vanished. Hank, the loser, embraces his fantasy world.
