Based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Daniel James Brown, the movie tells the story of how in 1936, a few boys growing up in ordinary families at the University of Washington formed a rowing team, which went all the way to the top, defeating Harvard and Yale one after another in a race, as well as defeating the strongest rowing team of the hosts, Germany, and ultimately winning the gold medal at the Olympics.
