Jonson (Kyra Sedgwick) travels from Atlanta to Los Angeles to take on the role of Acting Chief of the Special Crimes Unit, which specializes in investigating homicides that make life difficult for the police and exciting for the media. It's a glamorous-sounding position that turns out to be a lot of trouble, as Jonson is dealing with a bunch of big, stubborn men who each have their own personality and ideas, and who think they're the smartest of the bunch.However, over time, Jonson gradually gained the recognition and trust of the detectives, and every time, she was able to rely on her own unique wisdom and means, from the mouth of those vicious criminals to get out of the hard evidence she wanted to get, and even some seemingly insoluble cases, only Jonson alone can crack. Under Jonson's leadership, the momentum of the entire investigation team is getting higher and higher.
