Set in the 1940s, it tells the 'glamorous and glamorous' story of a five-star hotel in the heart of London and the other world it reveals during wartime. Created by Charlotte Jones, the series is produced by Left Bank Pictures and executive produced by Sharon Hughff and Downton Abbey producer Chris Croucher. The show is about a hotel in a wartime setting, showing scenes from all levels and aspects of society, including family, politics, character relationships and work, and will be shown through the perspective of a while American visiting journalist Joe O'Hara. The show, which opens with the famous Dickens quote 'It was the best of times, it was the worst of times', will be available to viewers in 2017.Steve November, ITV's Head of Film and Drama, says: "The hotel is the perfect place to reflect on all the ambitions of the World War II era, which was one of the most extraordinary in our nation's history. was one of the most extraordinary periods in our nation's history and a time when London was constantly changing. The Halcyon allows us to get to the heart of this wartime hotel and experience its busy greenery, bustle and vibrancy, whilst also reflecting on how people continued their individual lives in that kind of environment whilst fighting off a foreign enemy."
