Alan (Zach Galifianakis) is 42 years old and still lives with his mom and dad, who one day "finally" dies from his anger.Alan's buddies Phil (Bradley Cooper), Stu (Ed Helms) and Doug (Justin Bartha) decide to take Alan to a place in Arizona to get him some therapy, Phil (Bradley Cooper), Stu (Ed Helms) and Doug (Justin Bartha), Alan's best friends, decide to take him to a place in Arizona for psychotherapy. The four are accidentally held up on the way by a man named Marshall. It turns out that Leslie Chow (Ken Jeong), who escaped from a Bangkok prison and took half of Marshall's $42 million worth of gold, has left Doug behind in order to find out where Chow is, leaving the other three to bring him back. Alan has been in contact with Chow, the three soon met with Chow, in order to save Doug, Chow decided to take the three back to their original home, to get back the 21 million gold. After the four of them finally get their hands on the gold, Chow locks the three of them in the basement and leaves alone with the gold. Will they be able to save Doug and what kind of adventure will the four of them go through?
