In Los Angeles, USA, Jenny (Mia Kirshner), a recent graduate of the University of Chicago, comes to live with her boyfriend Tim (Eric Mabius), aspiring to become a professional writer. Their neighbors are Betty (Jennifer Beals) and Tina (Laurel Holloman), a lesbian couple who have been in love for seven years. The combination of life's hardships and encounters not only makes Jenny lose faith in life, but also makes her question love. One day, Jenny is invited to a house party organized by Betty and Tina, and she is captivated by an attractive woman.
