The Onion is known for its accurate and timely newscast, as well as producing feature interviews with action star Egg-Smashing Man (Steven Seagal) and clean-cut pop icon Melissa Shirley (Sarah McElligott). With the global export of American culture, even terrorists trained in terrorist camps in the Middle East are watching the Onion. The station's news anchor Norm Archer (Len Cariou) is opposed to the decision by executives to form partnerships with big companies, especially when commercials for toy penguins break news broadcasts. Frustrated, Norm decides to announce his well-thought-out declaration during a live broadcast, but just before he begins, the Onion TV station is suddenly attacked by terrorists, and Norm is taken hostage.
