Paul camp (Johnny Depp) is a frustrated New York writer who travels to Puerto Rico to work as a reporter for a struggling newspaper. He meets a sexy, gorgeous chenault (Amber Heard) at the hotel and is immediately attracted to her. Real estate mogul sanderson (Aaron eckhart) hires kemp to write ads and provides him with plenty of money and material. Camp found chenault is the boss's woman, but still can't help falling in love with her. Sanderson arranged for kemp to accompany chenault, and kemp resisted the temptation to run away with her. They come to an island to explore properties, and at a party, chenault gets drunk and dances with local men, to sanderson's fury. The next day, sanderson announced the end of the partnership with kemp and kicked chenault out of the house. Camp took chenault in and decided to write the inside story of sanderson's dark dealings, but the publisher refused to publish it. He and his friends made a lot of money in the market chicken fight, when they took the money back to prepare their own printing manuscripts, only to find that the publishing house has been auctioned, empty. Kemp didn't give up on his quest. Back in New York, he managed to expose sanderson, become a journalist, and live happily ever after with chenault.
