This film is based on real battles in the Vietnam War, which escalated to the stage of direct involvement of American troops in November 1965. The number of American troops in Vietnam was rising. Lt. Col. Moore (Mel Gibson) is assigned to train a group of new recruits to become real soldiers, and there is an influx of families accompanying the troops. In order to relieve the monotony of military life, the army held a large party. The time had come to march out, and Moore made a solemn promise to "bring back every soldier" at the ceremony.Moore and his troops were parachuted into a river valley near Cambodia, where the North Vietnamese Army was heavily armed. The next day, the battle advanced to the hills but still could not break the encirclement, Moore sought the help of the air force, due to the close proximity of the two sides, the U.S. Army's petrol bombs wounded some of the ground troops. Photojournalist Joe (Barry Pepper) captures a brutal scene from the battle. On the third day, the U.S. troops were preparing for a decisive close fight when air support was put in place and the Viet Cong were all but wiped out.
