This film is based on the story of Jackie Robinson, a famous baseball player. He was born on January 31, 1919, and died on October 24, 1972, the first black player in the history of Major League Baseball, and until April 15, 1947, when he wore number 42 as a starting first baseman for the Brooklyn Dodgers, black players were only allowed to play in their own Negro Leagues. Although slavery had long been abolished in the United States, segregation was still practiced in many areas, and omnipresent racial prejudice still strongly influenced all segments of society, so the day Robinson stepped onto the major league stage is recognized as one of the most important events in the history of the modern American civil rights movement.
