On this day countless American people traveling between Manhattan and New Jersey's undersea tunnel were complaining about traffic jams inside the tunnel as usual, not realizing that the Grim Reaper was closing in. Inside the tunnel a truck loaded with chemicals accidentally exploded, the powerful impact made the tunnel collapsed, the entrances and exits were blocked. At this point, the tunnel was in flames, filled with toxic fumes, and the river was pouring in, so it seemed that the only thing countless innocent citizens could do was to wait for death.Rescue teams had actually arrived earlier, but with the tunnel sealed and the toxic fumes raging inside, rescuers were hesitant to make a move. In the nick of time, cab driver and ex-rescue team member Chuck Locke (Sylvester Stallone) steps up to the plate. He crawls through a vent into the tunnel, where he stabilizes the crowd and leads them on a life-or-death escape.
