Set in the fictional town of Deadloch, Tasmania, the hard-working local High Sheriff, Dulcie Collins, is slowing down at the request of her wife to balance her life. That's when a man's body washes up on the beach and Dulcie is thrust back into detective work. Senior investigator Eddie Redcliffe, parachuted in from Darwin to support the case, but her brash and uninhibited style of crime-solving action is causing Dulcie resentment. As the death toll mounts, the women must resolve their differences and conflicts and work together to solve the serial killings targeting straight white men.
