Edgin (Chris Pine) is a bard whose greed leads to the death of his wife during a treasure theft operation. Later, the barbarian Holgui (Michelle Rodriguez) appears beside the dishevelled Edgin to raise his daughter Kiera (Chloe Coleman) with him.
When Kiera grows up, Edgin and Holger take Kiera and her uncle Fudge (Hugh Grant) to form a team of treasure thieves, only for the operation to go awry and for Edgin and Holger to end up in prison. Years later, Edgin and Holgai have escaped from prison and are determined to reclaim their unearned treasure, and to do so, they have recruited rookie warlock Simon (Justice Smith) and druid girl Doric (Sophia Lillis). Just as Edgin's group gets closer to the treasure, Fudge, who escaped with Kiera back in the day, his true colours gradually reveal themselves.
