Based on Sheri Fink's documentary of the same name, the series tells the story of exhausted caregivers at a New Orleans hospital who are forced to make heartbreaking decisions in the aftermath of the storm.In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina, which swept through New Orleans when the New Orleans Memorial Medical Center suffered from flooding, power outages and soaring temperatures, the medical staff was forced to make choices that would haunt them for years to come under such dire circumstances. The hospital ended up with 40 deceased patients, some of whom were deemed unable to live and were therefore scheduled for euthanasia.
