Pete (Jason Segel) is a musician with a much better girlfriend, Sarah Marshall (Kristen Bell), who is a popular TV star. Pete is devoted to her, but she dumps him. After a long period of depression and seeing Sarah on TV all day, Pete goes on holiday to Honolulu, Hawaii to get over his breakup and meets Sarah and her new boyfriend at the hotel. Pete feels like fate is playing a trick on him, but then he meets Rachel (Mila Kunis), a beautiful, passionate resort attendant who is willing to listen to his misfortunes and bring him into the hot life of Hawaii. Pete slowly falls in love with Rachel, but Sarah has another nasty breakup with her new boyfriend and seems to have the will to turn back to Pete...
