Bertram Pincus (Richy Gervais), a London dentist practicing in New York, is not good with people, selfish and cynical. In a colon surgery accident, Bertram fakes his death for seven minutes and wakes up with the ability to communicate with ghosts. Tired of being harassed by the ghosts, Brent meets Frank (Greg Kinnear), a ghost who was a public relations expert in life, and agrees to his request to help stop Frank's widow, archaeologist Gwen (Téa Leoni), from marrying her boyfriend, human rights lawyer Richard (Billy Campbell). Richard (Billy Campbell) from remarrying.
