Jesse Shuttlesworth (Ray Allen), a nationally known high school basketball star. Jesse's hopes for a professional basketball career are overshadowed by the fact that he has an incarcerated father, Jack Shuttlesworth (Denzel Washington). When his father mistakenly kills his mother in a domestic violence incident, the jailed Jack is confronted with a deal to reduce his sentence if he can convince Jesse to join a state-appointed college, because he has a star son.The film "Singled Out", directed by renowned American director Spike Lee, features Denzel Washington, Hollywood's most appealing black movie star, in the role of the father, and marks his third collaboration with director Spike Lee.
