Hansel (John Cameron Mitchell) has been attracted to rock music since he was a child and hopes to become a rock singer in the future. One day, he meets American GI Luther (Maurice Dean Wint), who agrees to take him to America, but only if Hansel marries him. In order to follow his dream, Hansel resolutely undergoes a sex change operation. Although the operation has caused him permanent trauma, Hansel finally sets foot on American soil.Two years later, Luther abandoned Hansel, and in a land where he had no family, Hansel survived. He found himself a job as a caretaker and started a rock band called "The Angry Inch", during which Hansel met a young boy named Tommy (Michael Pitt), unaware that this boy would become his future nightmare.
