Cia counterterrorism agent Carrie (Claire Danes) is on a mission in the Middle East when her agents reveal a shocking secret: a captured U.S. soldier has defected and is now working for aL Qaeda, plotting a terrorist attack on American soil. A few months later, a U.S. Marine corps tip off Sgt. Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis) in Afghanistan after nearly nine years as a prisoner. Returning home, Brody receives a hero's welcome. Meanwhile, Carrie is brought back to work by the CIA and is convinced that Brody is the renegade soldier, leading to an undercover investigation.
