Forty-three babies were born on the same day in 1989 to women who were randomly chosen to become mothers without any prior signs of pregnancy or association. Seven of the children were adopted by billionaire industrialist Sir Reginald Hargreaves, who founded the Umbrella Academy and raised his' children 'to save the world. But things did not go according to plan. During their teenage years, the family split and the team disbanded. Today, the six surviving members, now in their 30s, have been reunited by news of Hargreaves' death. Luther, Diego, Alison, Klaus, Vanya and No. 5 work together to solve the mystery of his father's mysterious death. But with different personalities and abilities, the estranged family is once again on the verge of breaking up, not to mention the impending apocalypse.
