Digger (Terrence Dashon Howard) is a pimp who has a midlife crisis as he spends his days in the car with prostitute Nora (Taryn Manning). In a black market deal, Digger buys a cartoon electric piano that brings back memories of choir. He learns that hip-hop superstar Kenny Black (Ludacris) is playing a July 4 concert. He hopes to record his own demo and send it to the hip-hop mogul. So, Diger began to rebuild the band, find the former choir-friend Kai (Anthony Anderson), white pianist Blair, pregnant Shag (Taraji P. Henson) and other people to help, step by step to achieve their ideal. He turned his experience of the bottom life into lyrics, and conquered the media and music fans with his passionate and rippling interpretation. However, just when he was about to become a big hit, he was jailed for a puzzling lawsuit.
