ben(Nicolas Cage) is a poor writer, all day long drinking after being expelled from the company, some frustrated he sold all his possessions, began his chronic suicide plan to Las Vegas. He plans to drink himself to death in a few weeks. He meets the prostitute Sarah (Elizabeth suelisabeth Shue) while drunk in the quirky Las Vegas strip. Sarah lived an equally unhappy life: being controlled by a pimp and unable to escape. Ben and Sarah spent the night talking to each other about being together.The two soon moved in together, but Sarah didn't stop Ben from drinking too much. Ben became more and more involved in his own world until one day he was in Sarah's bed with another woman. Sarah was so angry that she drove Ben out of the house. Ben was dying from alcohol. He called Sarah to see if he could bring life and love back to life.
