Syracuse (Colin Farrell), an Irish fisherman, picks up a mysterious and beautiful woman named Odin (Alicja Bachleda) from the sea. Syracuse places the reclusive Odin in his mother's old beach house and accidentally finds that Odin brings good luck to his fishing boat. Syracuse's daughter Anne (Alison Barry), who suffers from kidney failure, lives with her alcoholic mother, Maura (Deulla Kirwan), and her boyfriend. Anne and Odin formed a strong friendship. She believed that Odin was the seal maiden in Scottish myth. After landing, she buried her seal skin and could live on land for seven years until her husband came to take her back to the deep sea. Sure enough, Syracuse and Odin fall in love, but he doesn't know Odin's true identity until a dark-haired man mysteriously appears to take Odin away...
