Bachelor Barry Egan (Adam Sandler) runs a small factory and lives under the pressure of his seven sisters, who from time to time cry, get violent to vent their emotions and smash things. On this day he picks up a small piano that has been discarded on the road and meets a woman. It turns out that this woman is none other than Lena Leonard (Emily Watson), whom one of his sisters wants to introduce him to, and the two meet for dinner some other time. Lonely and bored at night, Barry calls a sex phone number and has a great time talking to the woman on the phone, but also gets into trouble: the woman can't pay the rent and calls him after she refuses to lend him money.After their first date, Barry and Lena fall in love. When Barry returns home, he is robbed by a gang sent by Dean (Philip Seymour Hoffman), who runs a sex phone company. When Lena is in Hawaii on a business trip, Barry breaks out even more and goes to Hawaii to find her, and the two establish a romantic relationship. When the gang drives into Barry's car again, Lena is injured and Barry finally explodes...
