Gifted and mad scientist Rick (Justin Roiland) returns to his daughter Beth after years of missing and starts a science lab in her garage. Rick has a "portal gun" that can travel through the universe's dimensions. Grandson Morty (Justin Roiland) and granddaughter Summer are often dragged into his homemade spaceship to embark on crazy cosmic adventures with him. His daughter and son-in-law, Jerry, are not happy with his crazy behavior. At the end of last season, they return from a trip to find the house in a mess.
